My dog stinks- and so does yours! We love our pets but lets face it- dogs shed (and stink), cats have litter boxes (and stink), birds have droppings (stinky), fish tanks, reptiles, bunnies, hamsters…. They all stink! Here is a quick pet odor eliminators guide to help you sell your home

1. No drool here

  • Have the carpets professionally cleaned and don’t forget to have the furniture steam cleaned at the same time.
  • Scrub, scrub, scrub, Ceramic tile and hardwood floors! Get to those baseboards too where pet dander and hair can hide

2. Don’t smell a thing

  • Good excuse to paint! Like smoke, odors can embed themselves. Slap on a new coat of paint to freshen up your home and update it at the same time
  • Change your furnace filter and have your air filters and duct work cleaned by a professional

3. Where is Fido

  • Keep stress off Fifi by taking them with you for a showing. It also keeps stress off buyers who aren’t so pet friendly and keeps the pet friendly buyers focussed on the home. If you can’t take pets with you, try a doggy daycare, grandma or a neighbor/friend
  • Doggy beds, scratching posts, litter boxes, toys, bowls and cages should all be put away
  • Poop patrol in the backyard before every showing. No one wants doggy do do on their stocking feet

When we work with you to help prepare your home for the market, we follow these quick tips to set your home up for success!

1. Start with a color scheme

First step is to pick a palette for the whole house and take it room by room. Its important to pre plan not just one room at a time, look at the big picture. Don’t forget to use this palette to freshin’ up your paint colours so you have a clean slate.

2. Work with what you have

Liven up what you already have by adding to it. Amplify your neutral tones with texture! Use a range of materials to keep your neutral pieces interesting. Let your bold pieces stand out by giving your furniture space and not over crowding.

3. Put your treasured things front and center.

Personalize your space with the things you love and make it your own. Maybe you already have a unique find or antique piece, showcase it!

4. Warm up a room with mirrors.

Brighten your space and make it feel bigger with a mirror. Have fun with it and pick an interesting shape or go big or go home! Don’t confuse a space with too much hanging artwork, pick one beautiful art piece and complement the rest of the space by hanging a mirror. Watch your placement and make sure the mirror is reflecting something you want to stand out.

5. Pile on pillows for luxe

Bedroom, living room, dining room and office. Don’t be skimpy on the pillows- when shopping for pillows buy more then a pair, buy two pairs! Mix and match with colours and sizes. Have pillows for seasons and change them out. Its an easy way to keep your décor current without buying a new furniture.
